Sam Foster has over 15 years experience in operating and financing technology companies. Prior to co-founding Velocity Equity Partners, From 1997 to 2001, Sam was a co-founder and General Partner of Corning Technology Ventures. Sam maintains or has maintained Board involvement in a number of portfolio companies, including Sonexis, Ammasso, LingoMotors, Network Engines (Nasdaq:NENG), Active Impulse Systems (acquired by Philips Electronics), and Terascape (acquired by EMC). Sam's prior experience includes serving as Managing Director of Elgin Management Group, a buy-out management company focused on the process controls industry.
Prior to his work at Elgin, he played a pivotal role in bringing about the successful turnaround of Valvcon, a process controls company, in both the COO and senior sales and marketing roles. Previously, Sam held the positions of General Manager, Controller and Engineering Manager at Backer-Loring Corporation, a metals fabrication and electronic assembly out source manufacturer.
Sam is a member of the MIT Enterprise Forum, the Association for Corporate Growth and the Board of Trustees of the Carroll School in Lincoln, Massachusetts. He received a BA from Wesleyan University. He is married with
two children.
